Wheel of Wonder January 24, 2010

This week on Wheel of Wonder we'll talk about African Traditional Religion and its "New World" counterparts. Have you been wondering about Yoruban Religion, Santaria, and Haitian Voodoo, or American Hoodoo? Surprisingly these faith paths will be the closest to Catholicism, we've ever spoken of on Wheel of Wonder! I'll share some information from the Phoebe A Hearst Museum of Anthropology, as well as some Ju Ju music you've likely never heard before! Don't expect much European music in this week's Wheel of Wonder! Although surprisingly, I'll be able to introduce a new track to you from Spiral Dance. Moreover, expect some King Sunny Ade and Chief Ebenezer Obey. An interesting and informative African/Afro-Cuban themed show, this week on Wheel of Wonder!

The picture to the right is one of the Incredible paintings of Sandra Stanton, placed here with her permission. Its Yemaya, Yoruban mother goddess of the sea . In Yoruban belief, all life came from the sea. To see more of Sandra's Work follow this link.
